Turkish chicken kebabs are enjoyed both within Turkey and around the world. They have become popular street food, as well as a staple in Turkish restaurants. The preparation methods and accompanying side dishes may vary, but the essence of marinated, skewered, and grilled chicken remains a central theme in Turkish culinary heritage.
Ingredients:
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken:
-
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, yogurt, minced garlic, ground cumin, paprika, ground coriander, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Preheat the Grill:
-
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Skewer the Chicken:
-
- Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the skewers. If you’re using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water for about 30 minutes before threading to prevent them from burning on the grill.
Grill the Kebabs:
-
- Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and has a nice char.
Serve:
-
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the chicken shish kebabs with rice, flatbread, or your favorite side dishes. You can also add some fresh vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions for extra flavor.
Enjoy your delicious Turkish Chicken  Kebabs!
