Appetizer Delight For Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

Mozzarella sticks likely have their origins in  United States during the 1970s.Mozzarella sticks quickly gained popularity as a popular appetizer due to their delicious combination of crispy coating and gooey cheese.As their popularity grew, they became a staple in many fast-food chains and casual dining establishments.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (16 ounces) mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping
  • Instructions:
  • Prepare the Breading Station:
      • In three separate shallow dishes, set up a breading station. Fill the first dish with flour, the second with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
      • .Prep the Mozzarella Sticks:
      • Take each mozzarella stick and dip it into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.
      • Next, dip the floured mozzarella stick into the egg mixture, covering it completely.
      • Finally, roll the mozzarella stick in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the cheese. Repeat this process for all the cheese sticks.
      • Freeze the Mozzarella Sticks:
      • Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
      • Freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This helps the breading set and prevents the cheese from oozing out during frying.
      • Heat the Oil:
      • In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
      • Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:
      • Carefully place a few mozzarella sticks into the hot oil using tongs or a slotted spoon.
      • Fry them for about 1-2 minutes or until they are golden brown and the cheese inside is melty. Do not overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.
      • Drain and Serve:
      • Remove the fried mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
      • Serve with Marinara Sauce:
      • Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
